Bugle Silver Band qualify for the National Brass Band Finals at Harrogate!
After weeks of rehearsal, on Saturday 14th March, Bugle made the two-hour journey to the Riviera Centre in Torquay for the annual West Of England Regional Brass Band Championships. After drawing number 16 (last in the section), they had a long wait before taking the stage.
Under the ever-patient direction of Musical Director, David Pope, they played the test piece: The Once And Future King by Andrew Baker. The band gave an emotive performance, which brought out the best in all the players with excellent tuning, great ensemble playing and the big sound that they have developed over the years. Each and every soloist deserves praise for the excellent job that they did in this, the most important and pressured contest the band takes part in.
After rushing out of the dressing rooms to hear the results, Bugle were delighted to come 2nd, and receive an invitation to the National Finals. The band will now be working extra hard in the run up to the Nationals, raising funds for the trip to the finals in Harrogate in September.
