Kerry Addison

2nd Cornet

Instrument: B Flat Cornet

Position: Second Cornet

Profile:
Kerry's first taste of music was at the age of 13, taking up the flute at Bodmin Comprehensive School. At the age of 14, her family moved to Surrey, and she did not have any more flute tuition until she left school.

At the age of 17, Kerry decided to take her grades, passing grades 3, 4 and 5. At 18 she moved back home to Cornwall. She played the flute just for fun at home, having a break from it until her son Matthew took an interest. This renewed her musical enthusiasm, and she passed her grade 7 at the age of 40.

Kerry had always wanted to play brass, but the opportunity never arose until she approached David Jane (Band Manager) after Bugle Band played in the March 2007 St Piran Celebration in Roche. She started lessons on the flugel and changed to the cornet, before joining in with the band practice sessions at the beginning of December 2007.

Memorable banding moment:
Watching her son, Matthew, play 2nd cornet with Bugle Band at the 2008 West Of England Regional Championships.

Why she likes playing in Bugle Silver Band:
Kerry says:
"The band put their all in, without taking it too seriously hence creating a great friendly atmosphere making newcomers like myself and my son feel very welcome".
