Profile:
Verlaine started playing the baritone in 1969 at the age of eleven when she joined West Hill School.  After a few months, she changed to cornet.

She later joined Bugle Silver Band in 1972, playing her first contest at the West Of England Bandsmen’s Festival in the Championship Section.  The highlight that year was playing 3rd Cornet at the National Finals Second Section in London, where they came 8th.

During her thirty-six years with Bugle Band, she has been up and down the cornet line as well as playing soprano, tenor horn and flugel.

In 1978, she married our Principal Cornet Player, David Jane.

Verlaine is also the Brass Secretary for the Bugle Music Festival.

When the band played for her wedding, thirty years ago.

Verlaine says:
"I enjoy the music and the camaraderie".
